In
this Natural Science unit we are going to learn about animals and some
different classifications depending on the characteristics.
VERTEBRATES (Animals with a backbone)
-Mammals
They have hair or fur and
lungs. They are viviparous (they have babies). They can be herbivores (they eat
plants), carnivores (they eat other animals) or omnivores (they eat plants and
other animals).
They can walk (people,dogs,
cats…), fly (bats), jump (kangaroos) or
swim (whales and dolphins).
-Birds
They have feathers. They are
oviparous (they lay eggs). They have two wings, two legs a beak and a tail.
They can fly.
Flamingos, penguins, parrots…
-Reptiles
They have dry scaly skin. They
have lungs. They lay hard eggs.
They can slither and walk.
Crocodriles, lizards,
tortoises, snakes…
- Amphibians
They have moist skin. They are
oviparous and they lay soft eggs.
They have gills and lungs.
They can swim and jump.
Frogs, tods and, salamanders
-Fish
They have gills, scales, fins
and a tail.
They are oviparous.
They can swim.
Sharks, goldfish, swordfish,
clownfish…
INVERTEBRATES (Animals
without a backbone)
-Arthropods
They have segmented
body and antennae.
Ladybirds, a dragonfly, a
butterfly, a grasshopper, a beetle…
- When it is hot, water evaporates from the seas and rivers. EVAPORATIÓN
- Water vapor forms clouds. CONDENSATION
- When the clouds are cold, it rains or snows. PRECIPITATION
- The rain or snow falls into the rivers or lakes, then this water from the rivers go to the seas or oceans COLLECTION
Then the water cycle starts again.
THE AIR
- Air covers our planet.
- This air is the atmosphere.
- There are clouds in the atmosphere.
- The wind is air in motion.
- The wind moves the clouds.
THE WEATHER
Hot, cold, cloudy, foggy, windy, snowy, stormy and rainy.
La temperatura se mide con el termómetro que nos dice en grados que temperatura hace en un lugar.
Se pueden apreciar distintos tipos de sonidos a través del oído. El hueso más pequeño del cuerpo se encuentra en el oído medio: el estribo. WE BREATHE OXYGEN - RESPIRATION AND CIRCULATION
We need oxygen. It comes from the air. The heart pumps oxygen in the blood.
We breathe into the lungs.
- Heart/corazón
- Lung/pulmón
- Blood/sangre WE EAT FOOD - NUTRIENTS - DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
- Teeth/dientes
- Stomach/estómago
- small intestine/intestino delgado
- large intestine/intestino grueso
LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM Three parts of the body (head, trunk and limbs)
Bones, muscles and joints/huesos, músculos y articulaciones. - Joints: neck/cuello, shoulder/hombro, elbow/codo, wrist/muñeca, hip/cadera, knee/rodilla and ankle/tobillo.
- Bones (skeleton): skull/craneo, ribs/costillas, backbone/columna vetebral, pelvis and femur.
